Brown Felix
Born on 4.11.1885 in Vienna, died on 29.11.1973 in Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria). Writer; studied German literature and art history at the University of Vienna, graduated in 1908, then editor at the "Berliner Nationalzeitung", 1928 to 1936 at the University of Padua, representative of Impressionism and New Romanticism, emigrated to England in 1919, taught at Durham and London universities; returned to Vienna in the early 1950s, taught at the Reinhardt Seminar and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts; member of the Austrian Art Senate and honorary member of the Austrian P.E.N. Club. Awards include the Grand Austrian State Prize for Literature (1951), Ring of Honor of the City of Vienna (1955), Grillparzer Prize (1965), Austrian Decoration of Honor for Science and Art (1966).
Publications include: Gedicht (1909), Agnes Altkirchner (1927), Der Stachel in der Seele (1948), Das Licht der Welt (1949), Anrufe des Geistes (1965).
