Bydlinski Georg
Born on 30.5.1956 in Graz. Studied English language and literature and religious education at the University of Vienna, graduated in 1981 with a thesis on US-American poet Robert Bly; freelance writer since 1982, poetry, prose, numerous books for children and young people as well as translations; editor of the poetry anthologies "Unter der Wärme des Schnees" (1988) and "Übermalung der Finsternis" (1994); member of the board of IG Autorinnen Autoren from 1983 to 2010, member of the Graz Authors' Assembly, the Austrian Writers' Association and the Podium Literature Circle;
Awards include: Promotion Prize of the Theodor Körner Foundation Fund (1982), Book Prize of the Federal Ministry for Education and the Arts (1984), Children's Book Prize of the City of Vienna (1993), Promotion Prize of the Province of Styria for Children's and Youth Literature (1995), Austrian State Prize for Children's Poetry (2001), Friedrich Bödecker Prize (2012);
Works include: Poetry volumes including: Die Sprache bewohnen (1981), Hinwendung zu den Steinen (1984), Landregen (1988), Wintergras (1995), Schneefänger (2001), Jahrzehnteschnell (2009); prose volumes: Kopf gegen Beton (1986), Wurfparabel (1991), Lindas Blues (2004), Das Licht des Schattenvogels (2013).
