Kaiser Herwig
Born on 9.1.1958 in Graz, died on 6.12.2016 in Brussels. Playwright; Matura at the Bundesgymnasium Carnerigasse, studied directing at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts, also studied law, doctorate in 1982; numerous trips through Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the USA and Mexico; member of the Kult/uhrturm association; 1984 to 1990 dramaturge at the Graz Schauspielhaus and public relations officer, then head dramaturge at the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken; worked in the European Parliament from 1995, most recently in the Directorate-General for Personnel.
Awards include: Literature Prize of the City of Graz (1980).
Works include: Tramper (1978), Sepp (1980), Bis aufs Blut (1983), Ein Tritt ins Leben (1982), Mit dem Rücken zur Wand (1983), Susie (co-authored with Franz Bäck, 1985), Tlansit (1986), Die lange Nacht der Spekulanten (1993).
