manuskripte editorial archive

Stock 1

manuskripte editorial archive 1960-2015

manuskripte is one of the most important literary journals both nationally and internationally. Founded in 1960 on the occasion of the opening of Forum Stadtpark, it was closely associated with Alfred Kolleritsch (1931-2020), who initially published the magazine together with Günter Waldorf (1924-2012). In 1995, the magazine was separated from Forum Stadtpark and the manuskripte-Literaturverein was founded. The magazine has always been based in Graz. Initially three, then four issues per year, almost exclusively featuring first publications. The collection contains materials relating to the individual issues, correspondence and editorial internals. The documents include typescripts and manuscripts of the literary contributions received and galley proofs of the individual contributions, with and without corrections by hand, as well as computer printouts, e-mails, copies and carbon copies. In addition, there is ongoing correspondence covering the years 1960 to 2015, including rejection letters. However, the state of preservation varies; not all individual original texts or all booklets have been preserved. The individual issues, starting with number 4/5, as well as the years 1962 to 2015 (with the previously mentioned gaps) are documented in detail. In addition, internal editorial information and detailed documentation of the subscribers have been preserved.

It is a permanent loan from the Styrian Provincial Library (364 folders in total), which is being cataloged there. Already received are 35 fol ders (mostly covering the years 1960-1970) [transfer 20.9.2021], 38 folders (with correspondence from the years 2000-2016) [transfer 5.5.2023], 114 folders (with correspondence from the years 1971-1999 and versions and materials relating to the "manuskripte" volumes 1972-1975/49) [transfer 11.12.2023], 75 folders (with versions and materials relating to the "manuskripte" volumes 1975/50-1994) [transfer 25.6.2024].
