Schnehen Herbert, Baron von (Tinti Collection)
Born on 4.6.1901 in Graz, died on 4.12.1996 in Bruck a.d. Mur. Son of the writer Freiherr von Schnehen, studied classical philology, graduated in 1925, teacher's examination for Greek, Latin and German, 1927 grammar school teacher in Villach, via Knittelfeld to the Akademisches Gymnasium in Graz in 1938, 1939-1943 Gausachbearbeiter für Deutschkunde in the NSRB, from 1943 principal at the secondary school in Cilli, fled with his wife via Carinthia to Bruck, banned from his profession for 10 years due to Nazi persecution, then from 1945-1966 AHS teacher at BRG Bruck, retired in 1967.
He wrote works on genealogy and heraldry and was also active as a poet.
The collection, a gift from his friend Karlheinz Tinti (1919-2013), includes essays in copies and specimen copies, a biographical study in the 1st carbon copy (memories), correspondence (letter from Helmuth Gärtner dated July 1, 1935) and life documents (genealogical table, family history in copy etc.).
