St. Peter's playgroup (Graf collection)
Theater documentation of the amateur theater troupe 'St. Peter-Spielschar'.
The amateur theater troupe, which emerged from the Catholic youth movement, began performing in 1948 under the direction of donor Franz Graf with a few funny one-act plays. Initially, the plays were mainly performed on the church square in front of St. Peter's Church in Graz, later also in guest performances at venues in Styria and Burgenland. The program included chivalry dramas, satires, festivals, etc., staged by the directors Franz Graz, Walter Maitz, Horst Slippek, Fritz Dorner and Ingeborg Rulitz. Franz Graf (-1967), Burkhard Minisdorfer (-1970), Josef Person (-1972) and Heinz Fürpaß were the chairmen of the theater troupe, which was also established as an association in 1957. The amateur drama group existed until 1976, when the association was transformed into a cultural association with the primary purpose of promoting amateur theater by awarding amateur acting prizes for special performances. In 1999, the association voluntarily dissolved itself.
The documentation comprises two folders covering the years 1948-1977 and 1978-1999.
