Karl Stimpfl (pseudonym: Karl J. Stym), born on 15.9.1911 in Köflach (Styria), died on 9.11.1988 in Weiz (Styria). 1917-1925 elementary and secondary school in Köflach, 1925-1929 Bulme in Graz Gösting, 1929 Matura, due to the precarious economic situation factory worker, measuring assistant in road construction and since 1932 miner at Wolfsegg-Traunthaler Kohlen AG (here first prose works), 1935 after a hunger strike closure of the mine "Barbara" and unemployment, 1936 (not possible in Austria) publication of the miners' novel Unser Gesicht (Our Face ) as a newspaper continuation novel in Prague, Belgium and Switzerland, 1937 joins the ELIN Weiz, 1940 soldier, Greece, Russia, after wounds to Berlin and Silesia, spring 1945 escape from bombed Berlin to Upper Bavaria; After the publishing crisis in 1948 and the associated destruction of publication projects, abandonment of the writing profession and return to ELIN in 1949, 1953-1955 in charge of the cultural department, 1956 publication of the (successful) war diary Wir standen schon vor Moskau.
