Hans Vlasics
Born on 13.10.1897 in Bad Aussee, died on 7.9.1962 ibid. 1907 attended the Graz secondary school, then teacher training college in Linz, Matura in 1916; took part in World War I on the Tonale front in Tyrol, 1918 Italian prisoner of war, returned home in 1919, teacher in Knoppen-Kumitz until 1924, member of the SPÖ from 1923, from 1927 at the secondary school in Bad Aussee, 1934 passed the teaching qualification examination for secondary schools (subjects: German, history and geography), publication of poetry in newspapers and magazines, acquaintance with Arno Holz, Richard Beer-Hofmann, Felix Braun, Hermann Broch, Robert Neumann, Ernst Schönwiese; 1938 attempt to be accepted into the RSK in order to maintain publication opportunities, difficulties due to connection to Jewish writers, destruction of incriminating documents; from 1943 contact with Arnolt Bronnen; 1951 to 1956 principal of the Bad Aussee girls' secondary school, which he had de facto headed since 1945, then retired.
Publications include: Aus Abendweiten (1955), Vigilie / Der Totentanz um Maximilian (1955), Die andere Welt (1960).
