Special collections at the Franz Nabl Institute

a collection of newspaper articles on more than 1,100 Styrian, Austrian and international writers
a collection on the international reception of the "Grazer Gruppe"
a collection of bio-bibliographical data of Styrian authors

Newspaper clippings collection

Shortly after the opening of the Franz Nabl Institute, the Graz-based author and cultural journalist Heribert Schwarzbauer (1922-2009) donated his collection of newspaper cuttings, which had been compiled since the 1950s and documented Austrian and Styrian literary life. Over the past twenty years, this nucleus has been expanded and newly added to create an extensive archive with original clippings and copies of more than 1,100 Styrian, Austrian and international writers. This collection also contains information on many lesser-known authors who would otherwise have disappeared from regional memory.

The newspaper clippings collection is accessible during library opening hours. A small number of copies may also be made from the newspaper articles collected here.

Special collection on the international reception of the "Grazer Gruppe"

The Franz Nabl Institute has a collection on important authors of the "Grazer Gruppe" (Wolfgang Bauer, Gunter Falk, Barbara Frischmuth, Reinhard P. Gruber, Peter Handke, Klaus Hoffer, Elfriede Jelinek, Gert Jonke, Alfred Kolleritsch, Peter Rosei, Gerhard Roth, Michael Scharang and Werner Schwab) from a research project (1992-2002), which documents the international reception of the "Grazer Gruppe" up to 1996 and partly beyond. The collection includes newspaper clippings, secondary literature in book form and as magazine copies, independent and dependent primary texts as well as some audio and video recordings.
