Workshops: Thomas Bernhard
29.10.2015
Theme day with workshops for students with Martin Huber and Manfred Mittermayer.
Manfred Mittermayer: From the real world to the literary world. On the relationship between fictionality and reality in Bernhard's work
More than with almost any other author, the relationship between particles of reality and the literary world formed from them is on the one hand a particular attraction of Thomas Bernhard's texts, and on the other a challenge for the biographer who devotes himself to this relationship. Numerous examples will be used to discuss this transfer of elements from Bernhard's life story into his literary work and the function of this transfer in Bernhard's texts, but also for his artistic approach.
Martin Huber: Workshop on vol. 22 of the Thomas Bernhard work edition
On the occasion of the publication of volume 22 of the Thomas Bernhard work edition "Journalistisches, Reden, Interviews", an overview of the edition will be presented and then concrete examples from various volumes (with a focus on vol. 22/2) will be used to work out what this edition, which is based on the processing of the estate, can contribute to knowledge of the history of its creation and reception and to an understanding of the work.
